Abraham Malpan Society is the cultural wing of the Mar Thoma Theological Seminary. The various programmes conducted during the academic year 2012-2013 are as follows.

Inauguration: The inauguration of Abraham Malpan Society for the academic year 2012-2013 was held on 29th June, 2012 and Dr. Varghese George inaugurated the activities for the year.
Ridhadhwanitham: The current issue column of the Abraham Malpan Society Ridhadhwanitham was inaugurated on 18th June, 2012, at the main hostel entrance by Rev. Binu Varghese.

SPECTRUM: In a collaborative effort with the seminary Sunday school, Abraham Malpan Society has initiated to conduct a series of workshops titled SPECTRUM 2012 on alternate Saturdays. Spectrum aims at the holistic development of Sunday school children. The inauguration of series was held on 07th July, 2012 at 03 p.m. in the Juhanon Mar Thoma Memorial Hall of M.T.S.H.S.S by Rev. Shibu Kurian. Malpan society thanks Sunday School Headmasters Mr. Noble Abraham and Mr. Anish C. Skaria for their talent and co-operation.

Sharing Session: To observe the lectionary week of Christian witness in a diaspora context, a sharing session was arranged with Mr. Brazin K. Mon who had been working in Saudi Arabia prior joining the Seminary. The programme was held on 26th July at Seminary Chapel at 5pm. A special session on Mind Mapping was arranged with Mr. Febin Mathew Prasad on 20th October, 2012.

Musical Evening: In collaboration with the seminary choir, Musical evening deepthageethikal 2012 was arranged on 03th August, at 6pm in the seminary chapel on the theme Justice and Peace: Polyphonies to Symphony. Mr. Sibi Mathew, B.D IV was the guest for the evening. 

Translation Exercise: A translation exercise was organised 01st& 04th August respectively to give exposure to students the translation skills in oral and writing categories. Rev. Susheel Cherian, Rev. Mathew Skariah, Rev. Shibi Varghese, Dr. Mini Sam Koshy served as facilitators for the exercise.

Film show- In collaboration with Current affairs committee, a film show was arranged 07th August at the main hostel common room. The programme was organised in relation to the clergy refresher course. The film screened was 12 Angry men, which is an American classic produced in 1957.

Onam Celebrations:  The Onam celebrations of the seminary community were held on 24th September, 2012. The celebrations began with community worship at 6.15pm in the chapel led by B.D III class. The cultural programme started at 8.15 pm at the auditorium. The programme was led by B.D I class. Rev. Shibu Kurian gave the Onam message and Mr. Sanjo P. Varghese presided the programme.

Kalamela:  In order to unleash the literary, artistic, oratory skills in students, a Kalamela was organised from 18-27th October, 2012. The event was well received by the students exhibiting their talents in Light music, Elocution, Essay Writing, Mono act, Memory Verse, Cartoon, Pencil drawing, Poem-Story writing. 

Cultural Night:   A cultural night was organised on 9th November, 2012 to expose the cultural extravaganza of seminary community with songs, dance, skit etc. Each wing of the seminary hostels performed their programmes.

Christmas Programmes: Abraham Malpan Society conducted a Christmas carol service at Mundakapaadam Mandiram on 14th December, 2012. Rev. K.V. Cherian delivered the Christmas message. BD II students and seminary choir led the programmes for the carol service.
Abraham Malpan Society and Seminary Choir jointly presented the Christmas carol service at seminary on December 21st, 2012. Abraham Malpan society presented a drama ‘snehavazhikalil christhu’ which conveyed a powerful Christmas message.  The video of the programme was shot by Mr. Subin Mathew and Mr. Sonu Skaria Varghese
Valedictory meeting: The valedictory meeting was held on 04th February, 2013 soon after the special worship led by Malpan Society. Rev. Dr. K.G. Pothen gave the valedictory speech. Spiral bind of ridhadhwanitham was released and prizes were awarded for translation and kalamela winners. 
Conclusion: As we mark the close of yet another year, we remember and praise God Almighty who strengthened us to bear witness to his name through the platform of Abraham Malpan Society. Malpan society could initiate some literary, cultural and life skills programmes this year by the active involvement of seminary community. Malpan society met six times this year as committee reviewing each month’s programmes and deciding on further activities.
